Position: Animal care technician – Part-time – No benefit

Responsibilities:
An employee in this class performs duties associated with the care of impounded animals. Duties include cleaning the kennel and cattery areas, feeding and moving animals from one pen to another, laundry and maintenance of other areas of the kennel while following cleaning and cleaning protocols. strict disinfection based on animal welfare law. The employee will assist the manager of the refuge with euthanasia, vaccination and deworming of animals. The employee will receive cross-training to cover reception duties and advise potential adopters as needed. Applicants should understand that most animals in the shelter are poorly socialized with little or no training. A flexible schedule with work on weekends and holidays is required. A successful candidate must be extremely compassionate, patient and understanding in their dealings with animals.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in a kennel or veterinary hospital is preferred;
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid NC driving license.
