IACS launches Halloween-themed adoption campaign

The shelter wants people to trick or treat their pets into giving them a forever home.

INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis Animal Care Services wants people to “find their boo” this season and they’ve launched a Halloween-themed adoption campaign to help.

IACS encourages anyone looking to add a pet to their family to take advantage of free adoptions this month.

In keeping with the spooky theme of the season, the shelter also features a online shop with “Find Your Boo” merchandise including t-shirts, hoodies and stickers.

“We hope the community will come out and meet all of our adoptable dogs and cats,” said IACS Deputy Director Katie Trennepohl. “Despite a few days with a large number of adoptions, we are still facing capacity issues and continue to need community support.”

Among the dogs available for adoption is Bryant. He is one of 12 dogs in the shelter. euthanasia prevention list.

The list was launched in September. It includes up to 20 animals which IACS staff say would be suitable for a variety of homes.

The idea is that by having animals on this list adopted, it will free up resources for staff to focus on the hardest-to-place pets – those with health and behavioral issues and at risk of death. to be euthanized.

To close the month and the Halloween festivities, the refuge is once again organizing its Trunk or Treat event. The event will take place at the IACS premises located at 2600 South Harding Street on October 29 from 5-8 p.m.

The shelter is asking the public to help provide things to give to cheaters by purchasing items on their Amazon smile list.
